@Dennis : my view : Private sector is not the entire answer to any country's problems or issues. Private sector is all about performance and profits, there today gone tomorrow. The idea of any government privatizing services and sitting back to collect taxes through private companies will not result in real development. Privatization is a good step towards improvement on service delivery and done correctly achieve its results but as we know the likes of telcos who have proved well beyond any reasonable doubt that such would be expecting a miracle.
As an example, R and D at UON should be govt funded and developed. The talent at UON cannot be nurtured at say " attachment basis at Ksh 15000/- per month " where the talent will undergo career change due to financial pressures but at a fully fledged centre within UON that provides facility, training and mentoring. It will be these individuals who after leaving the facility become the real progress towards visions.
For a moment, let's get the private sector thinking out of the block and see what actually any govt should be delivering to its talents. Consider this angle and see where we stand.
