I've been using a 64bit version of windows 7 since late last year on a compaq CQ610 processor (the one with the T5870 intel processor) and 4GB of RAM.
I am very satisfied with the performance. I've had very few cases where the OS has frozen.
Most of the applications i use regularly are 32 bit; office, netbeans, mysql etc

Been looking at various advantages and disadvantages of 64bit over
32bit. For example, on Windows machines, one key area that helps is
RAM that can be pushed to 128GB removing the 4GB barrier that exists
on 32bit. 64bit applications availability maybe an issue but anyone
who has used say eg a MAC can relate to this better.
Anyone using 64bit on this list. How has the performance been on
running 32bit applications like broswers, office tools, games?I am running a windows PC (Mecer to be precise) with 2.6GHz Quad Core CPU, 8GB RAM on a mobo that is 64-bit.All the applications I am running are 32-bit. I also have an HP PC which is Dual Core, 3.2GHz, with 4GB RAM with a 32-bit mobo. Both machines run Windows 7 Ultimate. On the Mecer, it's the 64-bit version while on the HP I have the 32-bit version. If you ask me, I still find the HP much faster (in apps response) than the Mecer.
