Many Phones nowadays have Asssisted GPS which gives you the point to an error of a few meters...

I have found that one can actually navigate in Nairobi streets using a phone. The phone's Assisted GPS actually shows which side of the road one is on..

For example..

On the iphone we have an application called "GPS Motion Lite" - search for Baringo or minimize map and zoom on Baringo ,, once its brought up on map, simply tap twice and the coordinates of any point you move your cursor will be displayed on a small speech box..

This i believe can cut down on your research time and you can get coordinates at any time you wish, even as you navigate there ot real time.
