The major difference is optimization of bandwidth by the infrastructure provider. This means that more channels are made available. Let's distinguish two issues, the infrastructure and the content, DVB-T2 is an improvement on infrastructure it's up to the content providers to improve on your experience. http://www.dvb.org/technology/fact_sheets/DVB-T2_Factsheet.pdf (read this as if am the one reading it to you) Kiania On Thu, Aug 5, 2010 at 4:31 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

Wash,
Wake he not that sleepth because you'll sleep yourself * (direct kiswahili translation). I quick trip to wikipedia reveals the following:

The main purpose of DVB-T is spectrum efficiency and not ease of ability to watch many programs :-)This is an ITU requirement and we all must abide by it because, it's impreative that the world frees up spectrum for LTE and other advancing technologies.
The first standard DVB-T has been improved to come up with T2 and by visiting the link above you'll see what changes have been made. They have to do with Modulation and technical capabilities of the standard. To the best of my ability, DVB-T2 is backward compatible.
The Kenyan implemenation has been pretty smooth with the exception of all TV stations. They don't update the EPG and what's even worse KTN over the last week or so has been have serious lag issues. Voice and Video are totally out of synch with as much as 5 secs. It's my hope that freedom of media will also come with technical aptitute for the sake of advancement.
Kenya is currently deploying DVB-T and the expansion phase is currently going through Expression of Interest with the PS Information and Communication and aims to cover the entire country.
Hope this helps.
Reading Wikipedia and listening to David Kiania are two different things for me. I like the later because it makes me feel I am in real touch! So now, what advantage does those who own DVB-T2 have over those who have DVB-T, not in technical terms but in layman's (TV viewer) experience? That is what I was asking, Davie.
