I read the original article and IMHO it is ill researched and full of hyperbole, aimed at sensationalising the news without evidence. A number of very obvious points stand out here: 1. The donation did not rest on use, they could have very well decided not to use them at all. 2. Encryption would mitigate the fear that unauthorized parties could read and/or modify the data 3. What evidence does the Star have that the data actually left the country? I didn't see any in the article. This sort of journalism is irresponsible at best.
