
I did help another skunk here install one, such a painful process it is that I carefully documented each and every step, so as to save myself the future pain. I can try dig around and see if I still have that "manual". One lesson that l learnt was that even before you install dspace itself, make sure you have installed all the prerequisites and they are all working: JDK - not JRE and not open-JDK. Last time I checked, you have to modify your sources for this ant maven postgresql tomcat When all of those are up and running, then dspace will be a walk in the (fire ant infested) park. And you answer your other question, yes. Since dspace uses Tomcat, you can set it to run on a different port. Or even better, if your other web app uses Apache, you can configure Tomcat to play slave to Apache, and thus route all requests through Apache. Actually I need help on how to get started with installation on my machine, I have looked at the tutorials though i need step by step guidance on installation. then can it be installed on a server to run alongside web application? I will appreciate so much.
