I don´t understand why Android is seen as a Google platform. What I see is that Android is a product of the Open Handset Alliance, of which Google is a member? Someone please shed some light?
It's because Google controls many important pieces of Android. They own the Android trademark, and certify devices for "compatibility" compliance, before allowing manufacturers to use it. They also own the Android Market service, and restrict access to it, to compatibility-compliant devices. And they largely control the Android Open Source Project.
