Got one as well last Saturday after my old smartcard got corrupt !! To me, it is just a big push by corporates as I only wanted a SmartCard and not a payment card ???    Furthermore, they ask for personal details in form such as phone number, address and even wedding anniversary, WTF ??

And yes, you get an SMS for every transaction, I got one Saturday evening that my card was credited with 4,300,000 Kshs !!! So I guess it works :)
