Thanks peter for the comparison. makes me wonder why the brutally short battery life for the x500? macbooks always seem to last longer on a single charge than any other laptops ave seen. does windows run too many unnecessary processes or is the battery hardware lower quality? even the regular macbook boasts a ten hour charge even when constantly connected to wifi.
Lets do a simple feature comparison between the three and taking the default configuration and the cheapest in the range:
feature x500 MBP m11x m15x specific model X505-Q882 MC374LL/A screen size 18.4 13.3 11.6 15.6 processor speed 2.4GHz 2.4GHz 1.3GHz 2.4GHz processor type i5-450M C2D C2D SU7300 i3 370M RAM 4GB DDR3 1066MHz 4GB DDR3 1066MHz 2GB DDR3 800MHz 4GB DDR3 1333MHz HDD Size 500GB SATA 250GB SATA 160GB SATA II 320GB SATA II HDD RPM 7200 RPM 5400RPM 5400RPM 7200RPM Graphics card Geforce GTS 360M Geforce 320M Geforce GT335M with Optimus Geforce GT240M Discrete graphics memory 1GB GDDR5 256MB DDR3 1GB 512MB Battery type 87Wh, 12cell 63.5Wh unknown 56Wh, 6cell Est. Obviously, the X500 has more brute power, but IMHO, it would come last last on my wish list.

With 2X640GB drives, I can already see it being used with Adobe CS3 on 64bit and also a partition to suit the scratch disks. Here is some interesting info from Adobe : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401088.html .

which OS would you run on these machines?Would it make sense to run *nix distros if you want to do heavy photo + video editing?
