Chinese planes are not a good option at all. Current Safety record not impressive at all. With the pennies we have currently if we are to attempt buying new then better to buy Russian or "Czech region" planes. If second hand better to buy USA, British or French planes.
Historically China are fond of replicating aircraft designs and they dont even have a aircraft carrier that is theirs. they recently acquired a russian vessel and refurrbishing it and I doubt they will do a good job. You should see the plane they have come up with to counter the F-22... it is just a degraded comical photocopy of an F-22 ...
