Why should we do that? It never used to behave that way. Google should not change things like this, even if they are for free:)

I agree it is a real pain. I have also seen many many many posts in the net of people complaining about this from many countries. Even on the Google blogs. It seems Google does not want to listen in this case. Of course, Google could prove me wrong :)
