The Bulk of the money come from countries with the highest average advertising spend per person online.
for example, in the
U.S., the total 2008 estimated Internet advertising spend was $25.2
billion. if you divide that by the number of people online in the U.S.
according to Comscore (191 million), to get an average Internet spend
per person of $132.Other countries data is as follows UK ($213), Australia ($148) and Denmark
($144).
What this means is If a social network has more users
in the U.S., Japan, the UK, Germany, Australia, and other bigger
advertising networks, they are more likely to make more money than if they had say millions of users who dont spend money on advertising in Africa.
Kenya has more or less the same population as Poland 38 million people. But poland has 17 million internet users, while kenya has 3 million.Infact the 10 ten countries with highest internet users have a combination of give or take 40 million users.
From this,i think it is obvious where the money comes from.
There are other 17 ways you can make money from a social network.Advertising being the 18th........one which will gain momentum in near future is using social networks as CRM's.
If Facebook makes 225 million $, where does the bulk of this come
from? What about users per continent?
