I agree with you about getting the phone running smoother or even getting to use more apps. However, I must say that bar for the crazy guys, most people will not even make out the difference if you gave them two of the same phone - with Factory ROM and Custom ROM. They'll most likely raise an issue about the UI only.

Well, let's take a typical case here. I'd like to ask @Eva why she wants to update her phone.

Eva, what is it that you are missing in the default ROM that you feel you stand to gain by upgrading??
