We have confirmed from a senior executive at Safcom that there will be a big reduction tomorrow of call rates and it might be just the lowest ever.
I know and you have confirmed that you benefit alot from your dealership with Safaricom but lets be honest and level headed here. Safaricom has been a ripoff and the arrogance and chest thumping by the few greedy people who have been relying on it is the main undoing. If you are a true friend of Safaricom, tell it its mistakes. Stop the chest thumping
Owicho
Guys guys guys!
I think we love the mob mentality - beating people while dragging them doooooown the road and into alleys, and screaming. I think Kenyans love the mob mentality. Safaricom will have to wait until September 1 to reduce their prices, or a few days to September 1 whichever makes marketing sense.
Its useless to get your prices down while your competitor yaps and hypes and dances for all to see like those useless cartoons za Skiza on Safcom adverts. Let the circus go down and take charge of the situation.
The most difficult time is when you encounter a storm. You keep your cool while evolving a strategy and when everything cools down, you make the right decision to leave the sail or sail on with better options of encountering a storm. Don't expect to fight in a storm, you always lose.
Safaricom will prevail once the Zain storm cools, of course with a toll of 1 million or so sim gain for Zain. Safaricom will maintain 15 million or so loyal people like me and millions of others that have come to trust their ability to deliver innovative products without rushing to nowhere. Zain can only get a net of a few clients who are not loyal to the Zain brand.
Its like having a disloyal wife, there's nothing you can do as long as you love her and her waywardness.
My simple take.

For safaricom to put their foot down and say that they are not moved by Zain's move, its completely infamous. Either these guys were not prepared for such or I would call their stance the last kicks of a dying horse. Very very powerful and resistant. They need to swarrow their pride and come back to their senses and start to understand that the long queues in Zain shops are not people registering as voters. These are safaricom customers making a big switch.
