Until the LAN connectivity is sorted, don't even think beyond. Sort out the LAN first. Can u confirm connectivity at layer 2. ping your gateway and then
do a
arp -a
and check if u have your routers MAC address. If you do, then we know that connectivity is OK on the LAN. next check that ur not filtering traffic. Maybe a firewall or some other such application.
u may want to shut down iptables and/or any other firewall security app that could be filtering this.
Also check that u can resolve addresses using ur current DNSes.
