On my home LAN, there is a mix of OSes, so i went with:-
http://synkron.sourceforge.net/ + RAID1 array shared by an SMB server.

Because of power consumption savings, the server's bios is timed to boot the server 30 mins before synkron is timed to sync the user's home dir with the respective dir on the RAID1 share.
Shutdown is manual tho :)

Note: Backups are not incremental...the solution only takes care of syncing

Hey skunks

I need a solutions that will enable or allow me or users I create automatically sync files on a server more like a dropbox but one I setup and control.

Any recommendations or pointers?
