
I did an html page using vim on the server and realized that mine was not a permission issue. Just used Tunnelier and have discovered that most of these file that I had transferred using SCP (secure Copy) Were not completely transferred. so they could not be read. I used to get a similar uploading files zipped from windows, that pesky 500 error. It would go away as soon as the permissions were 644 and were owned by the same user as the webserver.
