Thanks Chifu New York City From: Landon Van Soest <landon@xxxxx> Date: Tue, Apr 20, 2010 at 5:28 PM Subject: PBS Development Videos I am the director of Good Fortune, a feature documentary about the challenges of large-scale international development in Kenya. The film has won several awards and will have it's broadcast premiere in primetime this summer on PBS. You can see more about the film here: http://www.pbs.org/pov/goodfortune/ and here: http://www.goodfortunefilm.com I recently received support to produce a series of short videos that delve deeper into the challenges of international development and highlight the work of more effective development efforts. We've had a great response to the project so far, and are coordinating efforts with POV (the strand of PBS airing the film), Link TV, viewchange.org, and the Center for Global Development. I would love the opportunity to shoot a brief interview with you (approx. 30 minutes) for the project. Good Fortune goes into the politicization of a UN sponsored slum-upgrading project in Kibera, Nairobi and follows a resident of Kibera through the fateful 2007 elections crisis, so I would love to get your unique perspective on the role of local government in international development efforts. The ultimate goal of the videos is to give viewers a more effective, informed way to get involved in development, and I would love to hear about an organization that you consider to be exemplary. I will be traveling to East Africa at the end of May and will have to opportunity to shoot a short profile of an organization of your choosing. Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to speaking with you soon. Landon Van Soest ----- Landon Van Soest Transient Pictures 250 W 49th Street, Suite 805 New York, NY 10019
