The token system is a mess. It is as if it they manually approve the purchase. Does anyone have an idea how they have done the integration to the Mpesa system may be we can know how the delays happen. They always say the system is done yet mpesa up.

Meanwhile, they should have an online system to query your tokens once you pay by M-Pesa until they sort the horrible queueing issues.

Lol, I would suggest you find a "sweet spot",  which gives optimum units and beyond which you start paying more.

Otherwise, you may be hitting bugs that no one feels are critical enough to be resolved.

My sweet spot used to be KSh. 400, moved to KSh. 500 and seems to be now somewhere above that.

Now that King or I has debunked the conspiracy theories, please send your crates of White Cap, either physically or in kind (M-Pesa).

@kenneth in that case then I would agree there is no flaw which then implies that my buying 120 units at a go and buying them in batches of 40 within one cycle should cost the same. I will experiment on that

From Wednesdays daily nation

' Since December 1, Kenya Power has been charging Sh15.51 per unit of electricity as a base tariff. Domestic power users pay Sh3.93 for the first 50 units of electricity consumed or nearly double the previous rate of two shillings.

For those consuming between 50 and 1,500 units, the cost per unit went up by Sh2.20 to Sh10.30, while those consuming higher amounts pay Sh20.50 per kilowatt hour (Kwh) up from Sh18.57. '

You can observe your consumption in real time by entering 050 in the csu. You can find your biggest power hogs by switching on various appliances on/off and observing the usage. You might even discover a neighbour might be plugged in to your power at the meter, some landlords use unsuspecting tenants power for security lights!

Use 080 to show units consumed in the previous 24 hours.

There is no logic flaw, the system keeps a record of all previous purchases thus buying 49 units you pay 3.93 per unit, if you buy 2 more units later in the same billing period you'll pay 3.93 for one unit then automatically land in the second band and pay 10.30 for the other unit.

That means there is a logic flaw in the prepaid billing graduated tarrif. Buying 120 units at a go or buying them in batches of 40 all within 30 days should cost the same. Coz if I buy 40, it should keep in mind/memory that the next batch I buy, only 10 units will be on the first tarrif. The rest should be on the next tarrif band.

@Job thats the thing I am trying to say. There is nothing complicated here. First of all the costs are actually published... Google is your friend:

1 - 50 units is about 2bob per unit
above 50 units it goes to about 12-13bob a unit
above 100 or 200 or something like that, I cant remember. It jumps to 18-19bob a unit.

With that knowledge when you bought the 1st 64 units because it exceeded 50units you paid about 12bob per unit (do the Math). You should have routed for less than 50 units and you would have paid 2bob instead. When you bought more power in the same month you now being charged about 58units x 18/19bob = 1102 the rest is the charges

Moral, never pay for power by paying lump-sum of 1000 bob because that will get you more than 50 units and you will pay a higher rate.
Secondly if you buy your units from a
