Hi Brian,
yeah sure..once you install the package it is automatically added to the start ups..problem with Ubuntu 10.1 is that..it does all that but then fails to aunthenticate..it hovwever works with Ubuntu 10.04...
Hi John,Is it possible to add the likewise service to the list of startup applications? So that it starts on boot, like apache? On Thu, Mar 3, 2011 at 2:33 PM, John Adams <adams.opiyo@gmail.com> wrote:

I believe the question has been asked below .... (any ideas or responses ??)
####START
I have joined an Ubuntu work station to Active Directory using likewise-open.
Problem is, when the PC is switched off after some time, a local user not from the domain has to login and log out
to allow domain users to login. If this is not done, no domain user can be authenticated. I am guessing it's because the likewise service only starts on login and on login means the local user has to login then log out.
How do I overcome this problem?
PS: Who has managed to join Ubuntu 10.1 to the Active directory using likewise open?
