</ul>I think all of this companies have played a key role in advancing technology to where it is today. Otherwise its a matter of measuring (which criteria do we use?) who has contributed more than the other.<br><br>Technology keeps on advancing every now and then, and there are reasons to why it advances in a certain direction.<br>
<br>I believe microsoft and apple&#39;s <b>competition</b> have contributed a lot towards the technology we have today. Each one of them has unique products that impact a lot on today&#39;s technology.<br><br>Regards<br> <br>

</div>they did bring scalable fonts (TrueType) into mainstream usage ...<br>
same with SCSI ...  24bit color ... bringing LCD screens into the<br>
mainstream (when most desktops were shipping with crt displays)...<br>
wifi on laptops etc  . What they did was bring a lot of better<br>
technology into the mainstream by becoming early adopters and<br>
marketing it well ... You would not be having hardware innovation if<br>
someone had not adopted these innovations into salable product ...<br>
