E1820 is not yet LTE compliant. it is actually 3.5G and supports higher version of HSDPA called 'HSPA+' that theoretically does up to 21Mbps. LTE kits was going for about USD 500 last time i checked

Wash,
You need LTE kit to enjoy LTE speeds, it def cant be done on 3G kit,
and believe you me there's not much of it in the market.@David,I bought that Huawei E1820 from Safcom at KES 9,999 so I am LTE-compliant! Soon, I will ask Bob Collymore personally to explain to me what his intentions were when he made the decision to sell E1820 without the accompanying service, yet we all could live with the E160 anyway. I had hoped that this disruptive upgrade they had would also usher in new crazy speeds, but alas! Yesterday, some installers contracted by them spent a day at a client (I'd requested them to install the LITE service for) waiting to get someone at Safaricom to provision the WiMAX. This whole waiting was because "the Billing System" was still down.....It's understandable that sh*t happens with systems, but someone would have thought Safcom had simulated this over and over, given their economic might.
