Let me share the experiences of a friend.. of a friend's (ahem!) experiences with a previous cccam server provider...

- Service started out free ie you only paid for the equipment 40K or thereabouts. This included a dish, a decoder (some dreambox clone), cabling, LNB, USB enabled router... You provide your own usb dongle or an Internet connection...

- Monthly costs consisted of only 100/= a month (to topup the safcom dongle, keep it from expiring)

- Channels provided were the full set, of you know who's offering :-)

- After a while channels started reducing or coming back from one month to the next...

- Then a monthly charge got introduced 1K... for maintenance of some other shit like that... okay, still good, quite affordable and stuff at least after this the channels came back to the full set...

- Then the problems began...

- The workings of a CCcam in summary (and without exacts) is that instead of you getting your unscrambling codes from a card, the card gets 'simulated' and the unscrambled codes get fetched from somewhere on the tubes... the data fetched is really small (hence the 100/= a month internet cost), if the response doesnt come within some small time, the screen 'hangs around' a while and if you stay for really long, you start getting scrambled ish...

- Whatever then thing maybe the server got infected with a virus, the guys reduced their bandwidth, moved to a new internet provider, they got too many clients, they discovered bittorrent, whatever it is, the service got really crappy, calls to 'customer care' started getting ignored...

- Then the price moved to 2K a month...

- Things stabilized for a while, then the 'hanging' came back...

- Supposedly, you know who had gotten wind of their existence and were tracking them down so you would have to bear with us blah blah blah bullshit

- And the service went offline

- So now the friend of a friend (who I dont know) now owns a chinese dreambox, cabling and a dish and still cant bring himself/ herself :-) to pay you know who ridiculous amounts to watch his favourite team get back into the Champions League (Y.N.W.A.!)

- dude has since moved on to catch signals meant for the Middle East and North Africa region for whom there are now certain complications have arisen 

- He needs to pair his card via net but cant for the life of him get himself a working (free) proxy to access that pairing page. Anyone having knowledge/ access to such a proxy will be greatly appreciated if they were to share details of such.. or any other means of getting through this...

- The friend of a friend would greatly appreciate and also hopes that you found this personal experience helpful in deciding on whether or not to go through with this NOMA TV business
