My problem with techies is that we see everything as a competition. Why can't I have my iPad and you have your Xoom and we live along happily ever after. The fact that each product has its weaknesses will not stop a consumer who wants that product from getting it. Maybe, with the so-called lack of opennes is what attracts me to the iPad - so lets just live with each other. Websites will compare all these devices, and the comparison is not meant to discredit any device, but to offer the consumer a choice. ./Ok3ch On Fri, Mar 4, 2011 at 10:34 PM, Haggai Nyang <haggai.nyang@gmail.com> wrote:
Just like in a head-to-head race, you may have better acceleration, but I have the top speed... That said, this is about ecosystems...not just hardware shootouts. By moving with Xoom I'm assured of seamless continuity with my persona in the googlesphere...however as I watched Steve Jobs announcing the iPad2 I could not help but wonder how I have to have Apple TV to wirelessly stream video, how Flash is a goner, how FaceTime only works with Apple devices etc...in other words having overwhelmingly Apple-centric features. In a way having a more open development environment (as with Android) does have its advantages as you are assured that if you need seamless interaction with another hardware device you can simply create it with the free SDK or just download it pre-made. _______________________________________________ Skunkworks mailing list Skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks ------------ Skunkworks Rules http://my.co.ke/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=94 ------------ Other services @ http://my.co.ke
