@Wallace, am not an authority with HP, but pls list excat the OS on these machines had/have so that I can do some research into this. I've looked at the pre-installed specs for HP 2530 and HP 6530 and HP seems to only provide the recovery manager on vista platform. On machines with recovery manager ( as also with Toshiba ) is provided so that you create the system images when the laptops are newly purchased. One can rebuild incases you mention below.
