However, this is what I'd try first:

It is the OS that reports the version as 5.1, 5.2 or in this case as 6.0
In Linux you can change the release infor to what the oracle installer expects.

For windows, just right-click on the Setup.exe in the Install
directory and select the compatibility tab and then check the 'Run in
xp compatibility mode'

That ought to do it.
