Even with the Orange modem connected I couldn't connect to the internet. Unless I disconnected the LAN cable.

But with (Aromat and) routes, I was able to sort it out. (Thanks Oketch).

I first deleted the persistent route (0.0.0.0) and then added the routes to the specific local IPs to use the client's gateway
(192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0)

I now can connect to their servers (2 of which are in the 192.168.2.* and the rest which are on 192.168.1.*)

Here are the commands I used: (Their gateway is 192.168.1.4)

route ADD 192.168.1.0 MASK 255.255.255.0  192.168.1.4 METRIC 3 IF 4
route ADD 192.168.2.0 MASK 255.255.255.0  192.168.1.4 METRIC 3 IF 4

It should work straight out the box, mine does. Just connect the LAN and get a local IP first... I'm thinking local ip destinations should use the LAN (if the LAN is on local range)

Hi team,

Is it possible to use modem for internet connections while still using the cable for LAN connections?

I require both - LAN for office work but no internet, and modem for internet connectivity.

And no, I have no control over the LAN. Am at a client site and their internet access is strictly regulated.
