Interesting you realize that the competition matches up - Apple sets the trends, they are happy there ./Ok3ch

There is a point at which "value" has to be quantified. Initially it was the OS being superior than the competition, the competition matched up.
Next it was the app ecosystem, something Apple still has an edge when it comes to tablets. The competition matched up in the smartphone arena.
Remember the retina display? It was a big deal then. The iphone 5s ppi is embarrassing, compared to what 2013 is offering.
The build quality - here it beats most android phones, except, of course, HTC, and few others.
At this point, I am tempted to say it is the customers creating value for an inferior product. Period.

Apple never wants to match up - They create value for their customers, which if you understand, you wont bother comparing. I still believe those hardest hit always tempt to compare and explain features to make them stand out ;-) ./Ok3ch

Fingerprint scanner - A definite wow factor. On this one, everyone else will play catch up.
However, for the first time I don't think iPhone should be compared to the likes of S4 or HTC One any more. It just doesn't match up.
If only the fanboys (and girls) would dare check out what's out there
