Or compare with Botswana. Almost the same land size. We have 3 times their GDP but they have about 10 times GDP per capita. Reason? They are like 2m while we are 37m. Maybe we should kill about 35m Kenyans so that our our unemployment rate can reduce to a manageable level.... And their population is reducing. Interesting stats. So what's the problem?
Perhaps literacy rates aren't correlated much with GDP (check out the scatter-plot at http://www67.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=literacy+vs.+gdp), whereas road and rail networks seem to be much more correlated to GDP (scatter-plots at http://www67.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=roads+vs.+gdp and http://www67.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=railway+vs.+gdp respectively)
