Ok, let me try to shed some light, When the iPhone launched at $299 and $199 in the US, that if it was bought under a two year contract. That means you are locked to the cellphone network like, AT&T for two years, that way they can sell you the handset cheap because they will recover the cost with your network bills. Orange Kenya is trying to do the same thing here but their prices are way outrageous. Most of the iPhones you see floating around are bought from the States then unlocked.
