What happens is that the safaricom installation was initial and then the orange installation tried to overwrite some files and was unable. As a result, the orange installation was deemed incomplete.

To Do:
1. uninstall safaricom
2. unistall orange
3. shut down the computer
4. restart the computer
5. install orange [assuming thats what you want to use]

As you can see from the above, orange will not work on a previously safaricom setup computer.

I once had such a nightmare with an Orange modem, but it ultimately worked. I think I deleted almost all USB devices under Hardware, rebooted, connected the modem and the autorun thing checked in.
Modem installed and worked.
