I'm in JKUAT doing Engineering in my 4th year and the only languages I've encountered are C, and C++. My CS counterparts have Java on top of this. Python is not taught anywhere only but a mere attempt to introduce it to GIS students in their final year, I guess it's because the is a lot of Python use (ESRI et al) in GIS. There isn't a lot of Academic Research oriented learning to make students / lecturers venture into languages such Python or even R. A lot of CS students are immersed in Mobile Apps developments, most of the bootcamps taking place are much focused on this. Even the Java been taught is nothing to get excited about...I'm yet to hear of guys studying Scala or Closure in my campus and yet this is the future of languages running on JVM. What's the situation these days in Kenyan universities? Python, Java, C++? Other languages?
