Hi, all
Thanks for the replies, I installed
Smoothwall a free firewall software on an old desktop, this works like magic, it allows me to block sites that I do not want people to see, ports I dont want people to use, view incoming and outgoing traffic via its web interface and most of all it acts as my DNS server so when one ISP fails I just change the cable for incoming traffic from one ISP to the other at my incoming traffic network port and everything continues as normal.

Hi, anyone know how to create a fallback internet connection?
I have two internet connections, Zuku broadband (Main) and Safaricom broadband (Alternate), I usually connect my Safaricom broadband to the router and disconect the Zuku one when Zuku goes down since its my main connection problem is: users have to change their Gateway when I do this by disconnecting their connections and reconnecting them again.
I have been toying with the idea of setting up a server using smoothwall so that when I need to make this change all I do is change the gateway on the server and the clients will not have to mess/change their internet connection settings.
Hi Kibui (Kefue?)
It's your router that is either primitive/rudimentary or not properly configured.
Perhaps you can get a descendant of Linksys RV082 (or any other dual WAN capable router) and that will solve your problem.
I am talking of those because they are cheaper than getting an Cisco capable of doing such.
You can of course use Smoothwall (I've never used it) or the FreeBSD-based pfSense to achieve the desired result.
