I get puzzled by our preoccupation with CCTV, even after Ksh. 400 million from your payslips was used to purchase some which you see around Nairobi. <div><br></div><div>Will CCTV cameras investigate crimes, pursue suspects, arrest them, present them before a court and prove they are guilty of a crime? </div>
<div><br></div><div>Most crimes in Nairobi involve theft of a mobile device which can be tracked, but no, no one bothers. </div><div><br></div><div>Our modus operandi is rounding up of immigrants and Somalis, banning of tinted windows, persecution of bus conductors and drivers for failure to stop crimes.</div>
<div><br></div><div>You get the drift, even with police forces in other countries having set what are good practices in crime reduction, we prefer to use bizarre directives. </div><div><br></div><div>In short, guys, you are on your own. The state long ago abdicated its role to fight crime. </div>
