@Peter yes it can happen but their policy still remains 3-5 business days. Here is the reason:

PayPal uses Automated Clearing House (ACH) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automated_Clearing_House which is done through the Feds (Federal reserve) which is obviously out of PayPal's hands. Within a business day PayPal can show the transaction as complete but that does not mean it has cleared the Feds. So basically PayPal does not send it directly to the banks. It first goes through the Federal reserve (probably through the NSA also.) anyway, the Fedral reserve then sends it to the banks this is a 3-5 business day process. Also note that ACH is usually processed in bulk.

Hope this clears the issue including probably the reason why Equity sets their SLA at 5-8 days
