YouTube seems to have some new technology that encrypts their flv files such that when downloaded, they are not playable by FLV players. you only play them on the webpage. I have tried flashgot, downloadhelper, IDM, built-in browser download manager etc but :-( My PC has codecs for almost every video format under the sun (I'm a skunk like that!) but this one site has been giving me issues lately...
So the problem is not that I haven't appended file extensions to the flv files or that I do not know how to download the files. the problem is to sidestep the encryption, or to decrypt the files.... whichever makes sense :-)

Try that for the already downloaded files. For future downloads try doing wat i do. Install RealPlayer then open the video u want to download. On the Youtube player, on the top right i think, when u move ua cursor above it, it highlights ''Download with RealPlayer''. Click and u r home. Its works very well on Firefox and IE browsers but not on Opera.
