Yes, they are bandwidth-by-contention.
However, ISP's only seem to be interested in the speed between your home/office and their servers in their office. They always tell you to do a speedtest using their speedtest site hosted on their servers and then tell you that the speed is great. Zuku are the worst at doing this. They don't seem to understand that 99.9% of all internet traffic is international.
Like I have told them before, when they host youtube, GMail, Yahoo, CNN, and the rest if the internet on their servers, that is when I will be interested in the speed from me to them.
Again, its basically pot luck when dealing with local ISPs. In my opinion, they have more impunity than politicians.

I didn't see it either, but that is what one of their staff told me:-)
So all these services are "bandwith-by-contention", right?
Some days back, I hear that folks who were on true fiber backhauls were the happy ones.

Hi Wash,
I don't see the option Zuku Biz-8 on the website. Can you provide the link?
I am on the 8Mbps home option but just yesterday I was getting 0.08Mbps to the Zuku speedtest site.
At the end of the day, I think its just a try your luck scenario. You never know. You may get great service or terrible service.
Hello pple,
I'd like to know anyone who uses Zuku and still remains sane - given what I have read on this forum before.
I am setting up an office somewhere in Parklands and Zuku have a service there. I believe it's that one which is spread via KPLC poles.
What I cannot make out is whether I can use such service for a business - an office setup that requires highly reliable Internet connectivity, sans congestion!
I am looking at their website and cannot figure out what to choose from.
I have been given an option called Zuku Biz-8, which I am told costs KES 5,800 monthly, with an installation fee of KES 4,000
Anyone using this service in a setup other than "home use", please tell me about it. Is it worth it?
My connectivity will carry some voice traffic to a corporate PBX using VPN phones.
I'd love to know whether I should go for this or just stick to a service I am used to, like a symmetric 512Kbps from Access Kenya - QB is expe! ;)
