1. We can instead use tablets to ensure teachers check in to their classes. (But drunkenness will have to be arrested in a different way).
2. While noble, the best teach er model is likely to face resistant from other teachers, who will believe you are implying that they are bad at their job. 

There are many roles tech can play in education though, but we need to test and evaluate the best way it can come it. In fact, the laptop programme should start with a pilot, then have feedback co-opted before wider deployment.

I imagine with hundreds of thousands of teachers scattered all over the country, some are poor, some drunkard, some miss classes. A centralized teaching means the best teacher in the country each subject can teach all students countrywide the subject. That means everyone get the best there is in the country. The kid in Turkana is learning the same as the kid in Makini School. After the broadcast lesson, then the resident teacher can do ‘support’.

The idea in its bare essentials is to make the ‘teaching experience’ standardized, easily regulated or of the highest quality just as the reading experience is standardized by putting it in a textbook (but production and distribution is textbook is definitely expensive than video production and distribution).

However it might work: There was nothing wrong with manual transmission but people adoped automatic anyway. Similarly there is nothing wrong with auto and now guys are moving to TipTronic and DSG ...

A TV is a dumb terminal. A PC can have some teaching functions automated and the student followed a little closer, but can't replace a teacher.

Instead of Jubilee laptops/tablets, wouldnt a TV in each classroom be better tool, and then teach students centrally from studio, with the resident teachers acting as assistants. That may ensure that teaching is also standardized and equal in quality especially in all public school.
