You are missing the point John. Microsoft was a really small company. Bill and Allen were hardly out of their teens by then. In fact they could not even afford to buy a machine with an 8086 processor from I.B.M then, they were broke. So the earliest version of QDOS (quick and dirty O.S) for the desktop was built on an old PDP machine (running an emulator -- please confirm this).
The good thing is that it worked out perfectly during its first tests on an actual I.B.M P.C. Microsoft sprang out from raw luck if you ask me.

point is- in a dance between the startup and the bigboys... the bigboys will always look for ways to 'borrow' the idea and run with it on their own. Part of the art of being an entreprenure is knowing how to mitigate these scenarios. Corprates dont have friends...they only have interests...On Thu, Aug 29, 2013 at 9:42 AM, Martin Akolo Chiteri <martin.chiteri@gmail.com> wrote:
William H. Gates stole nobody's idea. Tim Paterson gave his code away for free. He had demoed it at an exhibition in which Bill and Paul Allen happened to attend. When IBM requested for people / companies to supply an O.S for their new desktop computing processors (8086, 8088, 80286, 80386 ...) Microsoft proved they could do it.
Bill simply demonstrated to the whole world that you can sell software and made a fortune from it. Nobody had really thought of it that way. Before then everybody just lookef at software as a branch of Mathematics. Nobody really sells or patents formulas, do they?

I always hate this technology and mobile companies, they are so

Guys you gave to use your brain and detach your ideas from depending

Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] “Safaricom stole my idea,” claims ManyattaRent founder
Based on the Tweet posted above- it seems Safaricom is not willing to
share any profits from any idea involving MPESA.
Case and Point - the standoff between Equity and Safcom etc
Time and time again - the Safcom the marketers/sales team have proven
to be Sharks - no one on their right mind should ever ever trust any
Shark.
