@Josiah, me thinks we should go for an entry level machine or pick a good re-furb. Costs will be a major factor. Infact, if other listers are unable to match contributions, then the best way forward is to go a desktop machine, with sata drives.
 
It really depends on what you guys want to do. If your plan is a professional long term MC type of machine with large space, then there is not option but to go server.
 
So far I can only count 2 or 3 contributers. Kwani, when it came time to pay, where did people go? I'd have thought this thread would have generated quite an interest in development of its own infrastructure.
