I am using 10.10 on my laptop and its ok. The best thing to do is to hook it up on the net after u hv just installed, this will help u download all s/ware and updates u require b4 u start experiencing it. One thing though, Wine is not just clicking with Office 2007, so I doubt if Office 2010 will be better. IMOO, sometimes a format is the best way to go so that u start with a clean install! I hv not tried crossover since it cost $$$ while I hv genuine Windows and Office 07 CDs! :-) I will try removing Wine and re-installing again to see if it will change.... I did an upgrade to 10.10 early this month from 10.04 (which I've used since April) using the alternate amd64 cd. Running on HP 6715b.
IMHO 10.10 is unstable...saw my first freeze there after a day of use! The first thing you notice is increased CPU usage even with no user programs running - this is also on the net so I guess I'm not the only observer. Word of advice: test on a box before you 'jump ship'. Maybe its my hardware platform, but I formatted and went back to 10.04 and my machine is a happy penguin.
