@Okechukwu MeeGo was practically killed by M$ understandably, there was no way M$ would allow MeeGo to be part of the deal. So since Intel has a stake in MeeGo, maybe they will continue. Nokia resolved to releasing only the N9 on MeeGo and thats it. The roadmap for Symbian is to continue push Symbian until 2016. SO the updates (Anna and Belle and Others) are really Symbian^4 being released in bits as upgrade to Symbian^3, Seeing they have to move to Win Mobile. The problem with Symbian is that is development was managed by Symbian Foundation... full of a bunch of die hards who stuck to legacy code. The good news for Symbian was when all Hardware manufacturers dropped it, Nokia could now take charge. So the changes you are now seeing in Symbian is the work of Nokia engineers and not Symbian foundations devs. Symbian foundation will just handle the licensing while Nokia will do the Engineering. This would be good news but the problem M$ is in the way of Symbian. M$ and Android? I dont think so. So if M$ Win Mobile doesnt deliver, Nokia will be able to fall back of the much improved Symbian. In the meantime low end phones should help pay their bills . Thats the general plan. ----- "geoffrey gitagia" <ggitagia@gmail.com> wrote:
Steve i saw the road map then heard to accelerate development they were gonna make Symbian open source for like 5 yrs (don't know if this happened) and Nokia has supported alot of open source OS's for mobile devices (more reason as to why i don't understand why Symbian is no where near a smart OS) and now with the MS partnership agreement the MS team was to boost Symbian .... all these and more indicate Nokia should be a formidable force to recon with when it comes to smartphones/devices ..... just still wish they had an android option ......

Its called a roadmap. Nokia has been at it for years. The only thing is that its now on accelerated mode. Nokia's problem over the years was it had been dragging its feet on new technology "A Managemet problem". Btw Nokia has had a phone that can work under water (I dont mean its casing is waterproof, I mean they have phone technology that still works even if water gets in it. They have had it for over three years and a lot more but "management" cant make up their minds on anything.
So as far as Symbian belle goes you will see an expadited evolution with Symbian. I guess putting Elop as the boss fixes the Management problem..
