What does a sim card have to do with 3G? The sim card is just a physical means of giving you access to the network, the service will be defined in you're profile if you are allowed to use it (normally all subscribers in the network are allowed). So if indeed orange has commercial 3G now, anyone with an orange sim card and a capable device should be able to use the service.
I thought normal SIM cards would work both 2G and 3G. Safaricom 3G works on my SIM card which popped before 3G. Will get one from those Mobitel shops when my data bundle expires.
