Using a headphone jack from a playback to the computer jack is workable but the quality is compromised seriously especially if compared to the same audio signalled through a mixer. You then can regulate the levels to reduce noise even improve the quality with the effects of a audio production software like audacity. I did it using freeware called Audacity. As said above, play tape, link pc (headphone to mic) and press record on Audacity (support stereo), then remove noise and play with Audacity features.
