Incase of a loss, the only thing they replace is the simcard but you will continue paying as usual until the contract ends. But I think there is insurance option at a cost though where they can replace the handset.

Currently the price of a nexus 4 on a google play/store is _usd 266 or something about there, for its unavailability it has gone up to usd600 if you check on Amazon or ebay making its price same as an Iphone 4s or 5 on a good deal
