@Dennis : my view : Private sector is not the entire answer to any country's problems or issues. Private sector is all about performance and profits, there today gone tomorrow. The idea of any government privatizing services and sitting back to collect taxes through private companies will not result in real development. Privatization is a good step towards improvement on service delivery and done correctly achieve its results but as we know the likes of telcos who have proved well beyond any reasonable doubt that such would be expecting a miracle.
We accept that our real problem is our so-called 'leaders' are hell bent to corrupt everything. Great Western concepts accepted out there but once they get to our borders, its their corrupted variants that get implemented - even local 'Corporate Social Responsibility' is not what it is out there. In reference to the above "PPP" has become private takeover and conversion of public assets into a few private hands - guised a partnership. We need to be very watchful of deepened 'private sector partnership' with government. Start my asking about existing governance in those private institutions and the effects of their marriage with governance in the public sector.... regards, Alex
