Never tried screen mirroring. It does act like it's dead if there's no active internet, however if you've installed an alternate home app then you can still launch kodi and watch stuff off your local network.

I've gone through so many devices (WDTV, AppleTV, Chromecast, Cheap Chinese Stbs etc), and so far the Fire Tv rules.
