You can share your successes/frustrations as you progress. For starters you can get a working ppp.conf from me (also available online). For the modem to work, you'll need to disable the virtual cdrom using the AT command: AT^U2DIAG=0, assuming you go the Huawei route. If this Wi-Free is what is being described here -> http://www.wi-free.com/download.html, then I don't see a variant for Unix that you can deploy on *BSD.
