The default username is root and the password blank, which means you may have defined alternative credentials. Go to xampp->phpMyAdmin Inside the directory locate config.inc.php. Scroll through to Authentication type and info you will find the following;

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['user']                 = 'your_username';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password']             = 'your_password';

Those should be your phpMyAdmin credentials, note them/change them and login
