From what my brain's archive says, sasanet went defunct because they started operating a kind-of micro-finance organization thus moving away from the core business. During the day, shifting from the main business meant closing or losing your business.

hey people,
I remember some time back just when the mobile phone craze was hitting
home and sms's used to cost a fortune to send (especially for young
guys when the cheapest card was like 100/-), There were several sites
that let you send sms's to any Kenyan no. and they were very popular
in cyber café's . the most popular was sasanet.co.ke which I now
understand to be defunct. . . anyway they all shutdown at the same
time just when they were really getting a strong following and i thot
their business case was good because of the advert bit at the end. . .
. .my thots are that there was a change in regulations that simply put
them out of business. . or does anyone know what happened?
